End Appointment

End an appointment for an employee and/or fully separate the employment relationship with the University. It must be completed for:

  • Resignations
  • Layoffs
  • Nonrenewals of a contract
  • End of an appointment
  • End of a summer appointment
  • Death
  • Retirement

To get started

  • Contact your local HR representative about offboarding processes specific to your campus or collegiate or administrative unit (for example, termination checklist, exit interview, supporting documentation, personnel files, etc.).
    • For all involuntary termination situations, consult with your local HR representative before issuing a layoff, non-renewal, or early termination of employment (including just cause terminations)
  • In a potential overpayment situation, inform the employee and stay in contact until the overpayment is collected. Refer to the Overpayment Collection process for details about next steps.
  • Remind the employee to update personal information in MyU such as home address, phone number, and home email.
  • The End Appointment form gives Requesters the option to attach a copy of the employee’s resignation letter or retirement letter, automatically routing the document to Perceptive Content. Before using this feature, contact your local HR representative about offboarding processes specific to your campus, college, or unit.
  • Avoid entering private data into your TDX request, including comments or attachments.
  • When ready to end an appointment, click the Request Service button on the right sidebar to start a request with HR.
